Waterfront Festival (May)
Locals and visitors alike are invited down to the port and waterfront to participate in a variety of games and activities. There will be food tastings, as well as arts and crafts for sale and face painting for kids. |

Portugal Day Parade (June)
The Portuguese Day Parade in Elizabeth New Jersey is the oldest running Portuguese Parade in the state of New Jersey. For the past 30 years, each sector of the Portuguese community- organizations, clubs, non-profits and religious institutions come together to commemorate our heritage of distinction. Portugal Day is a cultural revitalization of our community and a demonstration of the force and ambition of our community. |

Arts and Music Reception (May and October)

The Arts and Music reception is hosted annually by the Midtown SID and the Altenburg Piano House. Held at the Altenburg Piano House on East Jersey Street, this event recognizes the talents of local artists and musicians in Elizabeth and surrounding areas. |

Holiday Tree Lighting (December)

The Holiday Tree Lighting takes place each December in the Train Station Pedestrian Plaza on West Grand Street. The fire department joins the Midtown SID to bring Santa down from high atop the fire truck ladder to light the Midtown Holiday Tree. Children from all over Elizabeth eagerly wait to see Santa and receive a gift and put in their last minute Christmas requests while festive music plays kicking off the holiday season. |

Elizabeth Latin Carnival (September)
Thousands are drawn annually to Elizabeth's annual Latin Carnival. The event displays some of Elizabeth's colorful Latin heritage. |

Tour de Elizabeth (May)
A fifteen mile bike ride for all skill levels, which follows a route around the City of Elizabeth, showcasing the many historic downtown, residential neighborhoods, shopping districts, new development, and natural treasures our city has to offer. An average of 500 riders and their families attended the event, which brought both Elizabeth and non-residents to the State's 4th largest and most historic City. |

Car Show (August)

The event brings participants and spectators from all over New Jersey, as well as other parts of the Tri-State Area. The event continues to grow each year with the continued support of local car owners and sponsoring companies. During the event, participants and visitors enjoy great food, exciting entertainment, a variety of vendors, and participate in activities such as a hula hoop contest and a fan belt toss. |

Historical Reenactment

Re-enactors from all over the state come to Midtown Elizabeth to recreate a Revolutionary War tactical battle, which includes period clothing and weapons. The Historic Reenactment occurs each year on the front lawn and cemetery of the Historic First Presbyterian Church on Broad Street. |
