Mattano Park
Accessed at Fifth Avenue and Fifth Street in Elizabeth, Mattano Park offers many recreational opportunities, including ball fields, playgrounds and, in the summer, a water spray for children. Visitors will enjoy nature with beautiful views of green fields and the nearby Elizabeth River.
 
Veteran's Memorial Waterfront Park
Fronting on the Kill Van Kull Waterway, this Elizabeth park was dedicated in 1993. It accessed on the corner of Front Street and Elizabeth Avenue and borders New York Harbor. It features a boardwalk recreation area that contains a fishing pier, tables for chess, bike racks, benches and a city-run marina equipped with slips and dry dock facilities for more than 60 privately owned boats. The annual waterfront festival, held during Memorial Day Weekend, typically draws thousands of visitors from across the region.
 
Warinanco Park
(908) 298-7850 Sprawling 204 acres, this park is located in both Elizabeth and Roselle, and was designed by the noted landscape architect Frederick Olmstead-the designer of New York's Central Park. Housing many amenities-including a bicycle path, boating (row boats and pedal boats rented on an hourly basis), skating center, tennis courts, running track, winding trails, ice skating rink, fitness course, football, soccer and baseball fields, kids' playgrounds and a water spray for children in the summer-the park is known for its rich greenery. Towering trees, cherry blossoms that sprout in the spring, azaleas, tulips and magnolias provide a scenic backdrop.
