Why Elizabeth IKEA?

Let’s be honest. There are very few places where you can feast on a plate of IKEA’s famous Swedish meatballs while watching the spectacular sight of planes landing and taking off at one of the largest airports in the world. Lucky for you, that amazing place is right here in Elizabeth, New Jersey, home of the largest IKEA in the tri-state area. So if you’re looking for that new IKEA item that is going fast or one of the old IKEA standbys, head to Elizabeth, NJ!

It doesn’t hurt that Elizabeth is home to New Jersey’s largest Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ). This means that at just 3%, taxes are less than half of what you’d pay at the same store in Brooklyn or Philly. And since it’s conveniently located right next to the Jersey Gardens Mall, shoppers can come to this section of Elizabeth knowing that they will find anything and everything that is on their shopping list. (Note that there is 0% sales tax on clothes and shoes, so be sure to stock up!)

And if you’re planning a visit to Elizabeth, why not make a day of it? Whether you want to take in the abundant American Revolutionary history Elizabeth has to offer, enjoy its eclectic and global dining options, or explore its beautiful parks along the waterfront, Elizabeth has something for everyone.

The IKEA Experience

First time heading to IKEA? Let’s take a look at what makes IKEA the perfect home decor stop. First, IKEA is great for the whole family, especially little ones. The mega store offers a children’s play area, baby care rooms, shopping strollers, family parking, bibs, high chairs, and more! IKEA also offers free wifi and abundant parking for your convenience.

Despite what you may think, IKEA doesn’t just sell furniture—you can stock up on an impressive amount of Swedish and European delicacies in their Swedish Food Market, from chocolate flavored toffee to meatballs, snag some cool outdoor accessories, or totally stock your kitchen with all new pots and pans!

Take a break from your shopping and recharge at the IKEA Restaurant and Cafe. Kids and adults alike will love dining at the Elizabeth IKEA overlooking the Newark Liberty International runway. So, grab a cup of coffee, put your feet your up, and let your kids delight in the planes passing overhead!

Getting To IKEA Elizabeth

Fortunately, charming Elizabeth is convenient for anyone traveling by train, plane, or car. It is situated just minutes from New York City and Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Abundant transit makes Elizabeth one of the east coast’s most accessible destinations. Two New Jersey Transit stations make Elizabeth a very convenient location to get to any day of the week.

You’re also in luck if you’re traveling by car—IKEA stores always boast abundant free parking. So if you’re driving from New York, it’s easy: Take the Lincoln or Holland Tunnel to the New Jersey Turnpike; exit 13A to Elizabeth (you’ll be able to see IKEA from the highway). Follow the very clear signs to IKEA Drive.

If you’re driving from north New Jersey, say from Montclair, just jump on the Garden State Parkway and head toward the Newark Airport. From Morristown in the west, cut over on the 280 or 78 to connect to the Turnpike. Remember, exit 13A gets you straight to IKEA.

If you want to be car-free, your best public transit option will be to take a bus. From Manhattan, jump on the New Jersey Transit 111 bus at the Port Authority Bus Terminal that will shoot you down the New Jersey Turnpike and drop you right at IKEA Elizabeth. The 111 runs seven days every week.

Alternatively, you can take a New Jersey Transit train from Penn Station in New York and take it to Newark’s Penn Station. From there you can transfer to the 62 bus toward the Newark Airport, which will take you straight to IKEA.

Getting Back Home

Did you have a successful trip to IKEA Elizabeth? Maybe a little too successful? No problem. Getting your loot back on the bus or train shouldn’t be too much of a problem. But if you ended up with something that is a little more than you can handle, IKEA offers convenient and affordable delivery options. IKEA will deliver an unlimited number of furniture pieces to most anywhere in New York City for under $100. Some deliveries will be same-day, and others may take a day or two depending on what time of day you make your purchases. So, if you’re planning on buying a larger item like a sofa or bed (to take full advantage of that amazing tax savings!), don’t worry about getting it all back home on your own. IKEA’s got you covered.

So what are you waiting for? IKEA Elizabeth is calling!
