Elizabeth, New Jersey! We are excited to announce that one of our own has taken the Miss Tourism Queen of the Year – USA crown and will be representing the United States for Tourism, as well as sticking to her Elizabeth roots as she travels across the globe to compete in Miss Tourism Queen of the Year – International in Malaysia! We are please to introduce Kiana Harris, and we would like to wish her the best of luck!
Kiana Dominique Harris was born in Livingston, New Jersey and is a resident of Elizabeth, NJ where she attended Elizabeth High School (Edison House). While attending high school, Kiana was actively in the Mentoring program and the annual fashion show. She was named Miss Fashion Elizabeth High School for 2 years in a row and also 1st runner-up in the Miss Historical Pageant, which stressed knowing historical facts on a figure in American History.
She was also the 2006 Miss New Jersey American Talented Teen and was 1st runner-up in the National competition. Other titles she has held are: 2014 Miss NJ American Nation (3rd runner-up at Nationals) and Miss New Jersey for the Miss SuperTalent of the World USA pageant, (4 California at the National pageant for Miss Grand United States, where she placed as first runner-up.
At the age of 9, Kiana became very passionate about modeling, which motivated her to become actively involved in the local fashion industry. She has modeled in several Fashion Week shows in NY, Miami and New Jersey for emerging designers, Thomas Lavone Woodward, Tyrone Chalis and Marco Hall.
In an effort to serve the community, Kiana was involved in a community-based modeling organization called the Omni Models. As President of Omni Models, Kiana and her team coordinated annual fashion shows, which served as esteem building activities and commodious productive work areas, which kept teens away from inner city violence, and helped motivate teens to continue their ambitions. She formed The Key to the Future
Foundation in 2013, in order to be able to assist with programs to include health awareness; anti-bullying and self esteem building within the community. Kiana is also a strong advocate for youth empowerment, confidence building, and scholastic achievement of young adults. She believes that confidence is a key essential for success and she hopes that by being a positive role model, she can help inspire others.
Upon graduating from Elizabeth High School, Kiana began her undergraduate studies at Union County College, NJ majoring in Sports Management/Communications. She took time out from her studies to pursue her modeling career but intends to return to school in the Spring of 2016, either at UCC or the New York Academy of Performing Arts on a scholarship received as part of a pageant prize package. She plans to operate her own Special Events and Crisis Management Firm; specializing in sports, fashion and entertainment clientele Kiana is currently a fashion consultant for Castle Couture (Manalapan, NJ) and the recently crowned Miss Queen of the Year USA 2015 and will be the USA representative at the Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International pageant being held in Malaysia this December.
