Seasonal Fun in Elizabeth

No matter what the season, Elizabeth offers plenty of fun activities for the entire family. Here are some of the best seasonal activities recommended by Elizabeth New Jersey event planners.

During the winter, Elizabeth hosts many family-friendly events, including a tree lighting ceremony and a holiday party at Union Square plaza.

In addition, the Liberty Hall Museum & Academic Center offers activities throughout December, including breakfast with Santa and gingerbread house decorating.

Elizabeth is also home to The Mills at Jersey Gardens, a shopping mall with over 200 stores and a historic shopping district, making it an ideal place for holiday shopping.

When spring arrives, be sure to take in the beautiful sight of flowers and trees in bloom at one of the city’s parks.

Spring also marks the arrival of Elizabeth’s festival season, which kicks off with the Cuban Day Parade, a celebration of Cuban heritage featuring music, colorful floats, and mouthwatering cuisine.

On the Sunday before Memorial Day, the city hosts its annual Tour de Elizabeth, a 15-mile biking tour of the city. Hundreds of cyclists of all ages participate in this tour, which is an incredible sight to behold.

At the end of May, you can attend the Annual Memorial Day Waterfront Carnival at the gorgeous Veteran’s Memorial Waterfront Park to pay tribute to our nation’s heroes and spend quality time with loved ones.

With its many playgrounds and over 45 parks, Elizabeth is a truly incredible place to enjoy the summer weather!

The parks offer plenty of summer activities, including hiking, picnicking, and boating. On hot days, families can cool off at one of the community pools or spray parks, such as the Mickey Walker Spray Park, which features slides and water arches.

Another popular summer activity is walking the Elizabeth River Trail, taking in views of the river, and admiring artwork from local artists.

When fall arrives and the leaves turn vibrant hues of scarlet and gold, it’s a truly beautiful time to visit Elizabeth.

It’s perfect weather for taking a historic walking tour of the city, going horseback riding or golfing and sampling delicious New Jersey apples at Elizabeth’s Peterstown Farmer’s Market.

You can also attend a harvest festival, go on a hayride, visit a pumpkin patch, and even participate in an evening ghost tour!

Elizabeth is truly a city for all seasons, where you can enjoy countless fun activities every month of the year.
